Christmas Tridentine Mass at Midnight



Parish organist, choir master, music aficionado and overall decent fellow, Michael Semaan, has provided the blog with the music selections for this years Christmas Tridentine Mass at midnight at St. Joseph.

Archdiocese announces recommended parish closures, consolidations

Here is an excerpt form the Archdiocese report concerning the next phase of "Together in Faith;"

• One of three churches that dominate the near-downtown Detroit skyline along I-75 -- Sweetest Heart of Mary, St. Josaphat and St. Joseph near Eastern Market -- should plan to close.

....And with your Spirit!

The long awaited new translation of the Roman Missal is in effect as of today (Hoo-rah)!  The 3rd addition of the Roman Missal translates into English much closer to the original Latin text.  This is a great blessing for the Universal Church.  Here are some pictures of the new Missal that will be used at St. Joseph's at the Wednesday and Sunday Masses said in the vernacular:

Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament

Father Roman announced during his homily at today's 10:00 am Mass that Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will return after the 10:00 a.m. Mass throughout the Advent Season!  Depending on the feedback from our parishioners, he will make the decision whether to have this Holy Service return on a permanent basis!

Please stay after Mass and spend some quite time with our Lord!

This year saw the return of the "white elephant" sale!  The tent was jammed with bargains!
There were balloon creations for the kids!
