Feast of St. Joseph the Worker
Instituted by Venerable Pope Pius XII, the feast of St. Joseph the Worker was born in the Cold War to counteract May Day; the international holiday celebrating socialism and labor unions. St. Joseph, long regarded as the patron saint of workers (and of those fighting communism), is viewed as the model for all workers.
Here in Detroit we pray to St. Joseph for his intercession for all the displaced and unemployed workers in our city. Today's Mass was celebrated by Fr. Peter Hrytsyk, assisted by the alter servers from our cluster parish St. Josaphat.
Here are some pictures of the event:
The sanctuary is prepared....
As is the chalice and paten...
The Mass is about to begin...
The procession....
The prayers at the foot of the alter...
The Introit...
The Gloria...
Incensing the Book, before the Gospel....
The Gospel proclaimed in English from the ambo...
The homily...
The Creed....
The lavabo and incensing of the Master of Ceremonies...
Incensing the faithful...
The Consecration.."Hoc Est Enim Corpus Meum"...
The Elevation of the Host....
The Consecration of the Chalice..."Hic Est Enim Calix Sanguinis Mei"...
The Elevation of the Chalice...
"Domine non sum dignus"....

The Blessing...
The Last Gospel...
Procession to the Sacristy...
That's all for now! It was a beautiful Mass; thanks to all who made it happen!
