May Crowning

The Church has dedicated the month of May to the Blessed Virgin Mary as a number of Her Feasts and Memorials are celebrated this month. The Marian Memorials in the month of May are as follows;

May 1   – Our Lady Queen of Heaven,
May 13 – Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament,
May 24 – Mary Help of Christians and
May 31 – The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The tradition of “Crowning” the Blessed Virgin Mary in the month of May dates to the 18th Century, starting probably in Italy. We continue this venerable tradition at St. Joseph’s with our own “Crowning” today after the 10:30 a.m. Mass.
