Upcoming events in May

Here's an update on the events going on in May at St. Joseph's from this Sunday's bulletin:

Sunday May 9 -  May Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary will take place at the end of the 10:30 a.m. Mass.  We are asking all the boys and girls of the parish to be a part of Our Lady's Court.  Everyone in Her court will carry a rose up to the Blessed Mother's statue and place it in a vase.  Please call Dorothy Degens at (586) 463-6178 if your child or children want to be a part of this ceremony, so she knows how many roses to buy.

Saturday May 15 - annual flower planting and grounds cleanup.  Volunteers are needed at 10:00 a.m.; lunch will be provided.  Donations for flats of flowers are being taken (please see either Patrick Degens or drop a donation into the collection basket marked "flowers")  Ten flats of flowers cost $10 each.  For more information call Mollie Murphy at (734) 355-7195.

Sunday May 16 - regular fellowship after Mass in the social hall; donuts, coffee, juice, and fresh fruit will be available.

Sunday May 23 - The Feast of Pentecost.  The 10:30 a.m. Liturgy will be in German; musical guests include a German Chamber Choir.  The 12 noon Liturgy will be Tridentine; music provided by our very own St. Joseph's Capella singing Palestrina's Missa Aeterna Christi Munera along with works by Singenberger and Martini.

The annual Mai Fest dinner is also on May 23rd from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the social hall.  Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children.  German fare provided by Dottie's catering.  Tickets are for sale in the vestibule, for more information call (313) 559-0529.

Thursday May 27 - The parish council meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the social hall; all parishoners are welcome.

See you there!
